Grace

When I was overthinking my name for my professional organizing small business, I kept returning to the word "grace" (in the secular sense of giving yourself kindness and permission to mess up/struggle). Having self-compassion and not being so damn hard on yourself--as so many of us do.

Is this something you struggle with? Has there been a moment or situation recently in which you've given yourself grace? I'd love if you share in the comments!

This week was a strange one in that little honey was at the beach while I had a (really busy and incredibly fun) organizing job and also went back and forth to be with him. So much was in flux. Every time I'd use the bathroom, I would stare at this random pen I had dropped on the floor--and kept forgetting to pick up. It was the *only* thing on the floor in the bathroom. Each time I sat there, I'd kind of laugh, like, "Wow, I still haven't picked that up." Noticing with curiosity! And then by the time I'd flush and wash my hands, I'd forget to pick it up.

So, you know by now I love a tidy home, and especially because ours is small, little messes stir up my anxiety and can quickly avalanche into bigger, overwhelming messes. This pen was a very gentle reminder to give myself grace during this delightfully busy week. Clutter attracts clutter. These are facts.

It would have been painfully easy to let my negative self-talk drown out anything else. Instead I chose not to. Instead I chose grace.

I'm only human, I'm doing the best I can, I'm very, very tired (in the best way) and juggling so many new things, and I'll pick the pen up and put it away when I'm ready. (OK I finally did, but really it sat there for a few days!)

I do love a good list, here's 12 reasons why you deserve to give yourself grace: https://www.minimalismmadesimple.com/.../give-yourself.../
